Maggie

Makereta Konrote is a development economist with close to two decades of experience in public finance and financial management systems and reforms, national development planning, strategy and economic policy analysis.

​

She holds an MA in Environmental and Resource Economics from the Australian National University and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors having served on several Boards of financial institutions in Fiji.

​

After a long career in the Fijian civil service, Makereta recently transitioned into the development consultancy space with a keen interest in gender and the humanitarian and development nexus.

​

She is currently an independent consultant with the UN Women Fiji Multi Country Office working specifically in the area of building women’s and girls’ resilience to the impacts of disasters and climate change.

​

Makereta is married to Alex whose background is in development and sports administration. Of all her roles, she is most proud as Mum to Eliana.
